Solveig Leithaug 'TIME' CD

Time by Dove Award-winning recording artist Solveig Leithaug highlights guest vocals by Anthony Skinner, Cindy Morgan, Kelly Willard and Solveig’s daughter Kari Julianna. Eight of the project’s eleven songs are new and were written by Solveig with award-winning songwriters such as: Reba Rambo-McGuire, Cindy Morgan, Sarah Hart, Anthony Skinner, and Kelly Willard.

Time
was produced by Steve Hindalong and features some of Nashville’s finest musicians including Jeff Taylor, Stu Garrard, Matt Slocum, and others along with Solveig’s signature acoustic guitars.

I enjoyed listening to the CD. Some of it was quiet, soothing music as I worked, but was just what I needed to relax. Her voice, along with the instruments. are a wonderful combination. Perhaps it
's due to it being an old favorite of mine anyway, but I especially loved "Leaning On the Everlasting Arms," but was also fond of the penny whistle I heard in the background of "Finn Torkel's Vise."

TIME includes the following songs:
1. Supermoon
2. Time
3. Lift You Up feat. Cindy Morgan
4. Do You Know Jesus
5. Finn Torkel's Vise (Laplander's Song)
6. Ellis Island
7. Get Together feat. Anthony Skinner
8. Take Your Word For It
9. Leaning On The Everlasting Arms
10. Trylle Bittelitt
11. Simple Things
For a sample, here is the title track, "Time."

Summarizing her goal as an artist, Solveig states: “Whether performing with a band, full orchestra and choir, or alone with my guitar, my prayer has always been that my music will be an artistic bridge of hope, connecting the listener to their Creator.”

Phil Wickham - Children of God CD

CHILDREN OF GOD by Phil Wickham has a few musical twists and turns, but with songs that are sure to please his fans. This is the first he has recorded since undergoing surgery to remove a vocal polyp in 2014. He has a new sound and a revitalized energy in praising God and music from this CD is eagerly anticipated by fans planning to attend a concert. Wickham is currently on tour, including many stops with "Chris Tomlin's Night of Worship in America," and a few other dates with a variety of artists.

My Review: I have been enjoying the CD. Not every song is my style or grabs my attention, but, there are also none that have me reaching for the volume control. It starts out with my favorite on the whole CD, "Doxology/Amen" but there are many others. I tend to be more of a ballad style, so some of the more upbeat distracts me from worship-mode. Those are a little too over-produced for my personal taste, but that's okay. The CD provides a bit for all. Others that I really love on the CD are "The Secret Place" (featuring Madison Cunningham), "My All in All," "As It Is In Heaven," "Spirit of God," and my next-favorite, "Starmaker." But, as I said, none are bad. I give it a 4.25 stars.

Let It Be Jesus ~ Christy Nockels CD

Recorded live at Passion City Church in Atlanta, GA, the first ever live album from Christy Nockels releases April 28. LET IT BE JESUS features a blend of old and new worship songs, along with a new recording of 'Let It Be Jesus.' Christy is a featured worship leader at Passion Conferences, which have seen hundreds of thousands of university students proclaim the name of Jesus. Along with her husband, producer Nathan Nockels (Passion, Matt Redman), Christy leads worship at Passion City Church.

Christy Nockels 3rd album, Let It Be Jesus, is very ballad heavy...which I happen to like. Music is an important form of worship for me, and I find that style more condusive. So, I wasn't sure if I would love the CD when it open with a very upbeat, "Freedom Song." "MY Anchor" was more in the style of what I prefer and I really did like it, and thought the following, "Everything is Mine in You." was fairly good.

BUT, when it came to "The Wondrous Cross," I fell in love with the CD. The album became more than just background music as I was doing other things. The song brought my focus on Jesus, and praising Him. "Let It Be Jesus" was an amazing follow-up song. I also loved, "If You Never."

"Leaning On You, Jesus" really spoke to me on a personal level. Leaning on Jesus and learning to trust Him more and more turn this song into a cry of the heart for me. For the album as a whole, there were a couple of songs that I kinda tuned out as they were playing, but it is a good one overall. Christy has a beautiful voice and I definitely enjoyed listening to this album.

"Les Miserables" - Focus On The Family

Victor Hugo's classic book Les Miserables  has always been popular, but this story of love, redemption, and forgiveness is once again in the headlines due to the release of the filmed version of the musical.  Focus on the Family Radio Theatre's Les Miserables is a bit different from the onscreen version, but this is much more family-friendly. Brian Blessed, Geoffrey Palmer, and Leo McKern are some of the better known (to me anyway) actors who bring this story to life in a manner that is sure to capture the attention and imagination of the entire family.

I listened to this radio drama, saw the 2012 film currently in theaters, and watched the 25th anniversary musical version online. All 3 have their good points and their bad ones, but I would say that this radio drama holds its own with the others. I have only read summaries and abridged (children editions) of the story, so I honestly cannot say who stays closest to the original story. I suspect each had twists and tweaks to the vision of the one responsible for the making of each but each tell the story of forgiveness and mercy versus unforgiveness and legalism. Love, loyalty, and sacrifice are themes that reverberate throughout, and this would be an excellent introduction to children of a classic tale that remains relevant.

Tyndale House Publishers provided me with a free copy of this audio drama. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review, and all opinions are my own.

Kyle Sherman: Hear Me cd

October 9, 2012 is the release date for HEAR ME  BY Kyle Sherman and I have 2 words for everyone: BUY IT!! I admit that when I was offered the chance to review it, the description sounded good, but I was so swamped that it shifted to the back of my mind. Then, due to the hospitalization and ultimate death of a beloved relative, writing reviews left my mind. A few days ago, I saw the cd sitting there and knew I needed to fulfill my obligation. I was ministered to through this cd so deeply I knew it was a "God-thing" that it arrived when it did. There were songs that soothed me and songs that rocked, but all appealed to me. I have listened to the entire cd several times over the past few days, and know that will be placed with my other favorites. My taste is music is very eclectic, and there are several styles here that appeal to me.

Here is The Greatest Tear from the cd:

Texas native, Kyle Sherman, is signed to a new label, RayLynn Records. For those of you familiar with Lifechurch.TV, Kyle was a full-time worship leader at their campus in Fort Worth, TX, under renowned pastor/author Craig Groeschel. I know I am expecting to hear a lot more from him in the future and am definitely a fan. His various links, so you can learn more about him are listed below:

This Is Your Kingdom Come Now

This latest release from Vineyard Worship is called This Is Your Kingdom Come Now. It features worship leader and songwriter Casey Corum and was recorded at Corum's home church near Houston, TX. Some of the other voices on this cd are Torri Baker (Vineyard Church - Columbus, Ohio) and Crispin Schroeder (Northshore Vineyard - Covington, Louisiana), as well as a 17-voice gospel choir. Rhythm and Blues, gospel, and rock are fused together to create an album that is unmistakably a Vineyard worship experience of joy, worship, and intimacy with God.

Starting with a rocking "Love Has Rescued Me' the beat continues with  "Heaven Come Down" and "Where The Mercy Falls". The music next slows down in the soothing, "Peace" before moving into my personal favorite on the album, "How I Love Your Ways". I also love to hear a much loved psalm, "Psalm 92" set to music. There are too many good songs on here, and I know I am leaving out some great ones. This has been one of my favorites of the Vineyard Worship cds. Cultivation Generation: My Foundation

June 19th brings the newest release from Vineyard Music. A multi-layered mix of guitars. banjos, synthesizers and voices combine to bring you My Foundation. Recorded LIVE at the Cultivation Generation Vineyard young adult conference, this brings you the feeling of being with a crowd of fellow believers as you are ushered into a time of worshiping God. These are very upbeat songs, and many have a pop style that many will find appealing. Listen to the video below for a sampling of the music and comments from some of the musicians.

My Foundation from Vineyard Resources on Vimeo.

I admit that there was a bit too much "pop" for my personal tastes. I liked some of the songs by themselves, but I didn't want to hear quite so many at one time. However there were a couple on there that I truly fell in love with. God Don't Never Change  and The Bridegroom really blew me away. I am hoping to hear more songs like them on future albums.

GIVEAWAY: Propeller is offering a download copy of this cd to one of my readers. To enter, just let me know on the blog. Drawing will be held Friday, June 29, 2012 at 9pm CDT.

Miami Vineyard Live cd review & giveaway

What happens when a group of 20+ musicians and 10+ songwriters steeped deep in their own musical traditions of Black Gospel, Latin, Caribbean, and Anglo come together to create a new tradition and sound? What happens when the fusion of Black, Anglo, Latino, Caribbean, and Cuban voices unite together to worship in one voice? Among the 2000 people that attend the Miami Vineyard Community Church, there are over a hundred singers, instrumentalists and songwriters that make up its eclectic worship ministry. For one night, these musicians joined together in worship and invited the church to document the sound that is uniquely MIAMI VINEYARD LIVE.
This distinctive bi-lingual liturgy is filled with many flavors, from Latino claves to gospel two-step to funk and soul to delay-laden rock guitars of modern worship, yet they all work together seamlessly to create a new sound and voice that is authentic and refreshing. From anthems of praise and proclamation to songs of intimacy and adoration, there is a common thread running deep throughout this recording and that is true worship of the Living God as an expression of His Kingdom breaking in on the streets and beaches of Miami, FL. (from the website)

Website: http://www.vineyardmusic.com/vm/miami-live

This cd is certainly a mixture of different sounds, and everyone is sure to find a style or song that really speaks to them. As I was listening to me, I thought that it would be great for the person who likes to use praise music as part of their work-out routine. There are some very high energy songs, but also has some slower ones that would work for a cool-down. Yet, most important, each song points you straight to God and you find yourself totally worshiping your Creator.

GIVEAWAY: An extra cd has been provided for the winner of the Rafflecopter drawing. Enter below!

I Love Your Presence

I LOVE YOUR PRESENCE was recorded live at the Burn Bright: Worship and The Kingdom Of God conference, hosted by Vineyard Worship. Several hundred worship leaders and worshipers gathered in the Arizona desert to explore the nature of God’s kingdom through music and teaching with some of the Vineyard’s most gifted communicators and musicians. This inspiring collection of songs recorded live at the The Vineyard Church North Phoenix will immerse listeners in the powerful worship that was the highlight of the event. I LOVE YOUR PRESENCE reminds us to not just think of worship as singing songs, but also laying down our lives for Him. ~ press description

While listening to these songs, no matter how busy I was, they would draw me into His presence. The first few selections were pleasant background music as I was busy working on other things, but then track 5, "Love Of God", grabbed my attention as it slowly built up in intensity. It was followed by "One Thing Remains" which caused me to stop all I was doing to just soak in the music that turned into my own time of just worshiping God. All of the songs were good, but the other 2 stand-outs for me were "Isn't He_Amazing Grace" and the title track, "I Love Your Presence".  I certainly recommend this cd of worship songs.

One Silent Night by FFH

Are you ready for some Christmas music? If you need some new songs to listen to this season, I can highly recommend the new cd by FFH. Four years in the making, One Silent Night is sure to quickly become one of your favorites. Starting off with a jazzy sounding rendition of "Baby, It's Cold Outside", and transitioning on to a lively, "Jingle Bell Rock", you are already upbeat and ready to enjoy this music. Listen to a small sample of their 'soon to be a classic' "One Silent Nighthere.

I must admit that the poignant sounding, "I'll Be Home For Christmas" could not have been performed better. However, the next two are my favorites: "The Birthday Of The King" is such a powerful song that touches me significantly. Then, "O Come O Come Emmanuel" is one of my favorite Christmas songs....and I am particular about how it is performed. They did gooood! :)

The pace is picked up with "Winter Wonderland" that is very pleasing. "Glorious Impossible" brings you right back to the true reason for the season and is an excellent worship song. They finish with "O Little Town Of Bethlehem" and the original, "Heaven And Nature Sing". Then, of course, I am ready to hear it all over again!! This mixture of both Christmas classics and original music is going to be listen to a lot during the coming weeks!!

Revolution Worship LIVE

About Revolution Worship LIVE:
“Revolution Worship…Live At Joy Church International”, is a dynamic Praise and Worship album with an eclectic variety of songs. Because it was recorded live, you get to experience the feeling of being a part of a group of worshipers. I know I have attended several worship services such as this in the past. Many of the songs have quite a contagious beat to them, and each are a joyous expression of love for God.

I have to be honest here. I really do like the music, but it is not my personal taste for every day listening. I have listened to it several times, and enjoyed it each time...but I tend to lean more to rock or R&B. Very talented musicians are involved with this project, and I do recommend it to others who love more of a middle-of-the-road style of music. There was one song that I did truly enjoy: Fill My Cup by Phil King. It had more of a Michael Jackson's Man In The Mirror feel to it. Know what I mean? :)

Anyway, check this cd out for yourself on the links listed below:

Brittany Hargest

Brittany Hargest  is a singer and dancer best known for being a member of the Christian/pop group Jump5. Her first solo album, titled

The songs are a very high energy that is sure to please all of her fans, plus have the added bonus of directing the listener to God. Her faith shines brightly in this upbeat collection. Many of the songs deal with our own imperfections, failures, and self-image...and how God loves us anyway and can together the broken pieces and use us. This is definitely an album that focuses on hope, redemption, and faith that will lift the spirit after a tough day and remind one that Jesus is always available for us to call on, restore us, and love us.

Jeremy Riddle ~ FURIOUS

Fu*ri*ous [fyoo r-ee-uhs]

adjective

1. full of fury, violent passion, or rage; extremely angry; enraged

2. intensely violent, as wind or storms.

3. of unrestrained energy, speed, etc.: furious activity

There is no doubt that FURIOUS, the latest cd offering by Jeremy Riddle, fits the third and lesser used definition of the title word. From the first track, Fall Afresh, I was captivated by this worship cd. One Thing Remains with the reminder, "Your love never fails" is one I could (& have) listened to repeatedly. Actually there is not a single song on this cd that I don't enjoy. I am a huge fan of Chris Tomlin, Hillsong United, Kristian Stanfill, etc., so if that is the style of praise and worship music you like, there is no doubt you will listen to this cd frequently!!

But, I admit, I was enjoying it and was just listening while doing other things until I got to track 7: Walk In The Promise had a slow build-up that drew me in and got my full attention. Even more important, it brought my focus on God rather than the musician. Then, One Thirst became my new favorite!! Listen to it:

The rest of the cd lives up to the promise of the other songs. This is one cd I would recommend to anyone! I admit that I did not know his name before I was offered a copy of Furious to review, but I am now a fan!! Here are a list of links for you to keep up Jeremy Riddle:

CONTEST!!: Since I am a bit late getting this review up (cd releases 9/20), I will choose a winner from those who comment (or contact me) before 10pm (CDT) Thurs., Sept. 22nd. I really think this is one you will enjoy!
