November Battleground

The one truth I see from the Biden-Harris campaign is their slogan: Battle for the Soul of the Nation.

It truly is. I shudder with revulsion at the thought of them winning, but I will Trust GOD no matter what. If you're a believer, pray for clarity & wisdom before voting. Our purpose is not selecting a political party to lead, but to lead more people to Christ.

It's not about whether or not you personally like a candidate. I am astonished when people go to extremes in their own views of a candidate or what they perceive others to believe. Obviously, I am voting for Donald Trump. I have gone from not liking him at all to a certain degree of admiration. He does have an abrasive personality and can react childishly at times, but I have also seen other sides to him that closed minds refuse to see. He is certainly not my savior, nor would I consider worshiping him. I love my country, but it's not my idol. While I am likely to vote Republican, I truly miss the days when I chose a person based on experience and character. The Democratic Party (not all Democrats) follows a platform I cannot support.

I do see America in a spiritual battle that will steer the course of our nation. I must vote for Biblical principles because I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I don't find the Bible to be as ambiguous as some claim, and I do pray for wisdom and clarity when I do have doubts. We must keep in my mind that not all Americans revere or even believe in the God of the Bible, so I don't expect them to have a Biblical world view. But, if you claim Judeo-Christian values and views, why would you not seek to honor God with your choices?

No matter who wins this next election or which side has the most seats in Senate & the House of Representatives, that is only part of the battle. We truly are in a battle for the souls of our nation... and the world. We are obviously moving away from God and even faithful believers are letting anger and hatred rule their actions and reactions. It is time to arm ourselves for a spiritual battle using God's plan.

"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes." - Ephesians 6:11

The Armor of God

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

2 Hearts review

For two couples the future unfolds in different decades and different places, but a hidden connection will bring them together in a way no one could have predicted.

Directed by Lance Hool, the stars of the movie are Jacob Elordi, Tiera Skovbye, Radha Mitchell, and Adan Canto, Two Hearts tells an incredible, life-affirming story of the generosity of one young man whose gift of life continues to impact more lives daily. The film is about the lives of Leslie (Mitchell) and Jorge Bacardi (Canto) and Christopher Gregory (Elordi), and partially based on the book written by Gregory's father and the screenplay by Veronica Hool and Robin U. Russin. 2 HEARTS is a romantic journey that celebrates life, love and generosity of spirit, and will strengthen our belief that miracles still happen.

The beginnings of their love stories begin in different decades for 2 couples but their lives intersect in a way no one imagines. Chris is a young fun-loving college student who loves sports, pranks, and his new girlfriend, Sam. His future looks bright... as he searches for his purpose.

Jorge is part of a world famous company whose family immigrated to the US during the Cuban crisis. He has a life-long medical condition and was not expected to live past childhood. His continued survival has given him a deep appreciation for life. His instant attraction to a flight attendant on a business trip brings a love he never expected to experience.

Their lives should have never intersected, but when tragedy struck, a generous gesture by Chris brought the families together, always to be intertwined.

My Review: It's a good film. There is romance, tragedy, comedy, miracles, and hope. Jumping back and forth between the decades was a bit confusing for me in the beginning but I quickly caught on and became immersed in the stories. It was easy to fall in love with the main four characters while watching each couple fall in love with each other. While presented with a "based on true events and actual people" stance, I wanted to know more about the real people and circumstances.

My interest in reality, though, is my main criticism of the film. Being a person who doesn't care about spoilers and loves to research the background of non-fictional characters in movies and books, I had some, "that didn't happen" moments. So, those parts may only be problematic for people like me. BUT... the overall message of the movie is a great one and I am glad I saw the film.

The Order of Rights

The Order of Rights is a pro-life film. The story centers around Emma Stein, a pregnant single girl who has been advised by her mother to have an abortion. Despite the objection of the child’s father, Ethan Carpenter, and his promise to help her, she decides to go ahead with the procedure. When Ethan and his family file a lawsuit on behalf of the child’s right to life, the drama escalates as Emma’s mother, Kerri, contacts a friend in the Associated Press. Before long, the case is mired in media frenzy. The court has to decide whether the child in Emma’s womb is a person or not, and if so, if it is endowed with the unalienable rights as enumerated in the Declaration of Independence. The title, “Order of Rights” refers to the order in which the categories of rights are deliberately listed in the document: Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness. (website)

My Review: The film started a bit slow, but built to a compelling story that kept my attention. Both sides were presented, and no graphic images were used that could be upsetting to viewers. Not ALL aspects & arguments of either side of the issue were presented, yet this makes "The Order of Rights" perfect as a door opener to conversation. I am a huge fan of films that make me think and this is a movie I can add to that list.

I only rented the film to view but this is definitely going to be a movie I will purchase on DVD for my personal library, and most likely another copy for my church library. I highly recommend it to all, no matter what your personal view is because we need to start listening to each other instead of having closed minds. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Congratulations to the cast and crew!
