Legacy Peak

Legacy Peak is an inspiring family adventure movie about perseverance and moving on from the past. Hoping to propose to her soon, Jason (Lucas Black) wants nothing more than to have Noelle’s (Ina BarrĂ³n) kids like him. But when a
perfectly planned trip to her parent's mountain cabin falls apart, the adventure could tear them apart or bring them closer than they ever imagined. Together they'll discover how to trust again and what it means to be a family.

Legacy Peak will be exclusively on Pure Flix starting September 22nd!

"Legacy Peak" is a movie about pushing past your fear to start a new adventure!

MY REVIEW: I was unsure about Legacy Peak since adventure-type films is not my first choice, but I am a fan of Lucas Black (Jason) and Todd Terry (Grandpa). It did not take long for me to become immersed in the story! Jason wants to marry Noelle, so flying her two kids to their grandparent's mountain cabin seems like a fun way for the three of them bond while Noelle ties up loose ends before traveling by car.

A meticulous planner, Jason has a notebook filled with schedules and ideas to achieve his goal of getting the approval of Noelle's children and dad. Of course, plans fall apart when he is forced to make an emergency landing. Teenager Sam (Kyleigh Bakker) is suspicious of Jason's intentions and reluctant to trust him. Her younger brother Ben (Roman Engel) is enthused, impulsive, and prepared to accept Jason wholeheartedly! Miles from civilization, they have to learn to work together to survive the cold, wolves, and their own fears and insecurities. Ben is also diabetic, so finding food and shelter is vital.

Lucas was perfect in his role as a man who works through his own insecurities and proves himself. Kyleigh and Roman were both very good at character development and it didn't feel like a rush to tie up the loose endings. Todd had a small role, but his character was a man of compassion, kindness, humor, and dependability. Director Aaron Burns also wrote the story and Matt Mikalatos (who is also a fantastic author,) wrote the screenplay. I loved the movie and highly recommend it for a family night film. (*some scenes may be scary for the under-10 kids)

LIFEMARK

David Colton’s comfortable world is turned upside down when his birth mother
unexpectedly reaches out to him, longing to meet the 18-year-old son she’s only held once. With the encouragement of his adoptive parents, David embarks on a
journey of discovery that leads to a staggering truth from his past. From executive producers Kirk Cameron and the Kendrick Brothers comes LIFEMARK, inspired by an incredible true story that celebrates the gift of life.

My Review: LIFEMARK, based on a true story, piqued my interest but I did not expect to love the film as much as I do. The message is pro-life and family-focused with adoption at the heart of the story. LIFEMARK is a story of hope, of overcoming the obstacles life throws at us, reveling in the art of faith, grace, and perseverance.

David Colton (Raphael Ruggerio) was adopted as a newborn by Jimmy (Kirk Cameron) and Susan (Rebecca Rogers). Soon after his 18th birthday, David's birth mother Melissa (Dawn Long) reached out to see if he was open to contact. The film tells the story of his reunion with Melissa and birth father Brian (Lowery Brown), their supportive spouses (Alex Kendrick, Stephanie Parker), and unexpected siblings.

I highly recommend the film! The story is life-affirming without neglecting that there can be obstacles and heartbreak in some choices made. It has moments that can bring tears, but the Kendrick's trademark humor is a highlight for me. A simple scene between Kirk Cameron and Alex Kendrick had me hysterically laughing but the comic relief star was Justin Sterner as David's best friend, Nate. Nate is the official videographer of David's journey to meet his birth family... and he doesn't want to miss a thing.

Do not miss LIFEMARK! I also recommend you watch the actual documentary, I LIVED ON PARKER AVENUE on YouTube. You will recognize the real Melissa as the nurse in the scene when 18-year-old Melissa relinquishes her baby to go to his new parents.
