Anne Wilson - REBEL

Anne Wilson is a PLATINUM-certified, GRAMMY-nominated artist and songwriter who has recently released her sophomore album, REBEL. This album features 16 tracks and blends the genres of Christian and Country Music. Collaborations include CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson for “Praying Woman,” GRAMMY-Award winner Chris Tomlin for “The Cross” and Country superstar Jordan Davis for “Country Gold.”

Anne Wilson is the only female artist to have 3 No. 1 singles across the Mediabase Christian AC and Christian Audience Radio charts since she debuted in 2021 with her first single, “My Jesus.” Each song off REBEL was written under the banner question, “what does it mean to be a rebel in the world we live in today?” and thus given a corresponding tag line and bible verse.

Tickets are now on sale for Anne Wilson’s The REBEL Tour with Jordan
Rowe, including 28 dates across the US in Fall 2024. TICKETS

Anne Wilson has a non-profit movement and community called Hey Girl Nation for girls and women of all ages to be encouraged and empowered by who they are in Christ alone. She has a specific desire to be a positive role model for girls who need one to look up to. One that reflects wholesome values that are rarely portrayed in today’s culture. Anne’s heart with her music and platform is to impact culture with a message of hope, faith, courage, and most of all, God’s love.

My Review: Anne Wilson's "REBEL" is a wonderful album that will touch the hearts of all who hear it. I love that each song has a corresponding Bible verse and tag line (can be found in the REBEL physical CD or Vinyl packaging booklet) to bring even deeper meaning to the song. Perfect for part of a daily devotion! The lyrics are as beautiful as the music and I have enjoyed having the entire album, although my favorite is "The Cross" which also features Chris Tomlin. I recommend you add this one to your music collection.

 Anne Wilson Boilerplate Bio:
One of Nashville's most inspiring
young trailblazers, Anne Wilson is a revolution in modern music. The
Lexington, Ky. native, known for her transcendent vocal and down-to-earth storytelling, recently released REBEL, fusing the heart of Contemporary Christian Music with the sound of Country. A bold musical statement with an even bolder message of faith, REBEL features her
hopeful, healing debut Country single “Rain In The Rearview” as well as chart-topping Christian radio ballad “Strong.” The genre-bending album follows her GRAMMY-nominated 2022 debut My Jesus, with the title track becoming a PLATINUM-certified No. 1 hit on Billboard's Christian Airplay chart. Since then, Wilson has tallied over 900M global streams, made her Grand Ole Opry debut and wrapped her entirely sold-out headlining My Jesus Tour. Already named a Spotify Hot Country Artist to Watch, one of CMT's Next Women of Country and a 2024 Opry NextStage Artist, she has made high-profile appearances on TODAY and ACM Honors, while earning her first-ever CMT Music Awards nomination, as well as a Billboard Music Award. Unapologetically real, Wilson approaches her craft with a purpose and conviction that sets her apart, declaring, “I am who I am — I'm Anne Wilson. I love God and that's my everything, but I love Country music, too, and I can have a beautiful mix of both.”

Tomlin/UNITED Tour

Great News for 2022! Chris Tomlin and Hillsong UNITED are going on a 33 city tour!

Can you imagine what an awesome event this is going to be? Chris Tomlin and Hillsong UNITED are creators of some of the most incredible praise and worship music I listen to. I have tried to narrow down favorites, but it's impossible.

I have heard Chris in smaller concert venues and loved every song. "I Will Rise" is outstanding for the peace it brings to the believer. But, the music of "Indescribable" brings me sheer joy. Hillsong UNITED has "I Will Never Be the Same Again" and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" along with dozens of others I love.

Tickets are ON SALE NOW!! Check out the list of cities included on this marvelous tour and buy yours today. This is truly a concert you don't want to miss! VIP Tour Experiences are available.

Can You Believe It? - Hillsong Kids

'Can You Believe It!? - Songs of Truth' is both a question and a challenge... a statement of gratitude to a loving God and an invitation to explore the very foundations of faith. Classic songs like 'My Best Friend', 'Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)' and 'What A Beautiful Name' join brand new declarations of faith such as 'As The World Shakes' & 'Heaven Is Our Home'. We pray that this collection of fun and vibrant songs, help children around the world to declare biblical truths about God's love and grace for them. (Amazon Editorial Review)

My Review: This Hillsong Kids DVD is a mixture of music, interviews, teaching moments and humor. Meant to explain the message of the Bible and the importance of church, topics included are the Bible, Church, living for God, and your need for a Savior. The material seems more suitable for elementary school children (7 - 11 years old). Of course, the music is wonderful for all age groups. I preferred the more well-known songs like "Oceans" and "What A Beautiful Name," but there were others that were enjoyable. I'm not a fan of some of the more upbeat pop type that would be more appealing to a child... but this is meant to be for children.

To be honest, I would have loved this as a CD or even if it had a 'Music Only' option on the DVD. Some parts of the adult interactions simply did not work for me, and the more teachable moments, while good, are not something I would listen to repeatedly. For a classroom setting, this is great, but I can't imagine wanting to hear the entire DVD frequently.
Overall excellent material but not something I would watch often. The children in my life are all preschoolers and they lost interest whenever the music stopped also. So, definitely consider the age of the child when purchasing this product.

The Afters - Live On Forever

Live on Forever by The Afters is a celebration of God's faithfulness, protection and promise, made more poignant due to it coming out of a season of tragedy. Health scares of a band member and a friend, and the deaths of a friend from church and of the infant daughter of the band's soundman during the two years the band spent writing and recording this album was cause for them to press even closer to God and His protection and shelter.

Josh Havens, guitarist and lead singer, when asked to pick out a song that sums up the spirit of the album, chose “Battles.” “It was the last song we wrote and the fastest we wrote,” he says. “We don’t typically write songs fast; we’ll change lyrics and melodies and craft our songs carefully. But ‘Battles’ poured out, the music and lyrics, in one day. It’s about standing up against fear and knowing God is always with us,” Havens explains. “It’s one of the takeaways we hope people get: ‘Don’t give up to fear."

I like this album. There are other songs The Afters have done in the past that I like better, but this is a good collection. To be fair, the style is more the type I will listen to now and then rather than a full set, but that is more due to my personal preference than anything else. The fact that I have listened to the CD several times, sometimes hitting replay at the end, is great. On most "pop" music albums, there is usually at least one song that has me hitting Mute. And, the more I listen to the lyrics, the more I like each song.

My favorites on this CD are "Sunrise," "Live On Forever" and "When You Are With Me." The thing about this album that pleases me most is that it is songs TO God rather than ABOUT God. Since music is such a huge part of my praise and worship time with God, I love to sing songs to Him. It's always good when I don't have to change the lyrics to make sense when I am talking to Him.

Bottom line is that I really do like the album, and while it is not my favorite musical style, the words are inspirational and uplifting---especially encouraging if you are struggling or going through a difficult trail---or ready to praise Him for seeing you through it.

Phil Wickham - Children of God CD

CHILDREN OF GOD by Phil Wickham has a few musical twists and turns, but with songs that are sure to please his fans. This is the first he has recorded since undergoing surgery to remove a vocal polyp in 2014. He has a new sound and a revitalized energy in praising God and music from this CD is eagerly anticipated by fans planning to attend a concert. Wickham is currently on tour, including many stops with "Chris Tomlin's Night of Worship in America," and a few other dates with a variety of artists.

My Review: I have been enjoying the CD. Not every song is my style or grabs my attention, but, there are also none that have me reaching for the volume control. It starts out with my favorite on the whole CD, "Doxology/Amen" but there are many others. I tend to be more of a ballad style, so some of the more upbeat distracts me from worship-mode. Those are a little too over-produced for my personal taste, but that's okay. The CD provides a bit for all. Others that I really love on the CD are "The Secret Place" (featuring Madison Cunningham), "My All in All," "As It Is In Heaven," "Spirit of God," and my next-favorite, "Starmaker." But, as I said, none are bad. I give it a 4.25 stars.

Let It Be Jesus ~ Christy Nockels CD

Recorded live at Passion City Church in Atlanta, GA, the first ever live album from Christy Nockels releases April 28. LET IT BE JESUS features a blend of old and new worship songs, along with a new recording of 'Let It Be Jesus.' Christy is a featured worship leader at Passion Conferences, which have seen hundreds of thousands of university students proclaim the name of Jesus. Along with her husband, producer Nathan Nockels (Passion, Matt Redman), Christy leads worship at Passion City Church.

Christy Nockels 3rd album, Let It Be Jesus, is very ballad heavy...which I happen to like. Music is an important form of worship for me, and I find that style more condusive. So, I wasn't sure if I would love the CD when it open with a very upbeat, "Freedom Song." "MY Anchor" was more in the style of what I prefer and I really did like it, and thought the following, "Everything is Mine in You." was fairly good.

BUT, when it came to "The Wondrous Cross," I fell in love with the CD. The album became more than just background music as I was doing other things. The song brought my focus on Jesus, and praising Him. "Let It Be Jesus" was an amazing follow-up song. I also loved, "If You Never."

"Leaning On You, Jesus" really spoke to me on a personal level. Leaning on Jesus and learning to trust Him more and more turn this song into a cry of the heart for me. For the album as a whole, there were a couple of songs that I kinda tuned out as they were playing, but it is a good one overall. Christy has a beautiful voice and I definitely enjoyed listening to this album.

1 Girl Nation cd

Landing in the space where One Direction meets TobyMac, 1 Girl Nation is an exciting blend of upbeat pop music, with lyrics that are totally focused on living life for God, even while you’re young. 1GN, as they’ve already been dubbed, stars Carmen, Kayli, Kelsey, Lauryn Taylor and Lindsey, five girls with a passion for telling their fans about Christ through their music. Their first single, “While We’re Young,” can be heard on radio stations across the country and their self-titled debut album is available now! (from promoter)

Watch the video below for "While We Are Young":

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this cd from Propeller FlyBy Promotions in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not required to give a positive review and all opinions are my own.

I confess that when I read the description, I thought, "Who is "One Direction"?. So I did listen to a couple of those videos to get a grasp on their style. and I agree that they are very similar. Bottom line, if you are a fan of one, you will probably be a fan of the other. I also confess, this really is not my favorite style of music, but that does not take away that I did find myself tapping my toes as I listened to it. There is no denying that this high-energy, upbeat music has a huge fan base, and these young ladies certainly have the enthusiasm and talent to go far. My particular favorite was the 4th track, "In The Eyes", but they are all good. The entire cd is filled with upbeat music and lyrics that deliver a positive message. I will be passing along my copy to my teenaged granddaughter, but see details below of how you can win a copy for yourself or a special person in your life.

Kyle Sherman: Hear Me cd

October 9, 2012 is the release date for HEAR ME  BY Kyle Sherman and I have 2 words for everyone: BUY IT!! I admit that when I was offered the chance to review it, the description sounded good, but I was so swamped that it shifted to the back of my mind. Then, due to the hospitalization and ultimate death of a beloved relative, writing reviews left my mind. A few days ago, I saw the cd sitting there and knew I needed to fulfill my obligation. I was ministered to through this cd so deeply I knew it was a "God-thing" that it arrived when it did. There were songs that soothed me and songs that rocked, but all appealed to me. I have listened to the entire cd several times over the past few days, and know that will be placed with my other favorites. My taste is music is very eclectic, and there are several styles here that appeal to me.

Here is The Greatest Tear from the cd:

Texas native, Kyle Sherman, is signed to a new label, RayLynn Records. For those of you familiar with Lifechurch.TV, Kyle was a full-time worship leader at their campus in Fort Worth, TX, under renowned pastor/author Craig Groeschel. I know I am expecting to hear a lot more from him in the future and am definitely a fan. His various links, so you can learn more about him are listed below:

This Is Your Kingdom Come Now

This latest release from Vineyard Worship is called This Is Your Kingdom Come Now. It features worship leader and songwriter Casey Corum and was recorded at Corum's home church near Houston, TX. Some of the other voices on this cd are Torri Baker (Vineyard Church - Columbus, Ohio) and Crispin Schroeder (Northshore Vineyard - Covington, Louisiana), as well as a 17-voice gospel choir. Rhythm and Blues, gospel, and rock are fused together to create an album that is unmistakably a Vineyard worship experience of joy, worship, and intimacy with God.

Starting with a rocking "Love Has Rescued Me' the beat continues with  "Heaven Come Down" and "Where The Mercy Falls". The music next slows down in the soothing, "Peace" before moving into my personal favorite on the album, "How I Love Your Ways". I also love to hear a much loved psalm, "Psalm 92" set to music. There are too many good songs on here, and I know I am leaving out some great ones. This has been one of my favorites of the Vineyard Worship cds.
