I Love Your Presence

I LOVE YOUR PRESENCE was recorded live at the Burn Bright: Worship and The Kingdom Of God conference, hosted by Vineyard Worship. Several hundred worship leaders and worshipers gathered in the Arizona desert to explore the nature of God’s kingdom through music and teaching with some of the Vineyard’s most gifted communicators and musicians. This inspiring collection of songs recorded live at the The Vineyard Church North Phoenix will immerse listeners in the powerful worship that was the highlight of the event. I LOVE YOUR PRESENCE reminds us to not just think of worship as singing songs, but also laying down our lives for Him. ~ press description

While listening to these songs, no matter how busy I was, they would draw me into His presence. The first few selections were pleasant background music as I was busy working on other things, but then track 5, "Love Of God", grabbed my attention as it slowly built up in intensity. It was followed by "One Thing Remains" which caused me to stop all I was doing to just soak in the music that turned into my own time of just worshiping God. All of the songs were good, but the other 2 stand-outs for me were "Isn't He_Amazing Grace" and the title track, "I Love Your Presence".  I certainly recommend this cd of worship songs.

Newest Release By Ginny Owens

Ginny Owen's latest cd, Get In, I'm Driving is a song that speaks to many of her own personal issues, but also appeals to others with its universal message. Her first studio release in 5 years, the songs have more of a jazz feel to them. That normally is not my favorite style, but I admit it has grown on me as I have listened today. The title cut has a touch of irony considering that Ginny is blind, but also serves to underscore that we need to let God be the "driver" in our own lives. "Joined At The Heart" is sure to become a fan favorite. I especially loved the line "...part of a greater story, written by the Author of miracles and stars"!

"Lay It Down"
had a great beat to it, as well as a timeless message that we don't have to carry our own burdens. I also loved her cover of "Higher Ground"; it had a bluesy feel to it that really resonated with me. Now I am torn over which song is my favorite: The upbeat "Daughter Of Destiny" captures my attention with each playing. However, the final track, "The Song" has a poignancy that really appeals to me. Bottom line, all of the songs are good!

Besides her talents as a musician, I love the way she serves God in other ways. I know I remember her involvement with recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina.  In 2005 Owens launched The Fingerprint Initiative, a hands-on, non-profit organization designed to “bring hope to the world, one project and one touch at a time.” The organization has partnered with  and raised money for groups such as Compassion International, International Justice Mission and Habitat for Humanity.

Please check out Ginny Owens through the various sites listed below. If you are new to Ginny's music, I am sure you will want to check out her previous work. She has a marvelous gift!

Robert Pierre cd Give-away

Robert Pierre's third cd, I'm All In, will be released on July 26, 2011. This is a very personal collection of  songs that Robert wrote or co-wrote (with the sole exception being Sing For Joy). The following is what Robert himself had to say about this cd:

“All of the songs have something to do with things I was going through my senior year,” Robert said of I’m All In, “preparing to say goodbye to friends and not really knowing what would come next, but finding comfort and peace in the Lord’s plan for my life. The Bible talks about how the eyes of the Lord are searching to and fro throughout the earth, searching for someone whose heart is wholly His, someone He can strongly support. This CD is me saying, ‘I’m all in.’”

The following is a list of links where you can check out Robert Pierre for yourself.  The Amazon link also will let you listen to samples of each song on the cd.

Ok, I admit that I am a bit torn on this one. The first song on the cd, I'm All In had a techno/ pop beat that, frankly, annoyed me. This continued for 2 more songs: lyrics I loved, but the music was just not what I wanted to hear. Many of the songs use this same style. The 4th track, Maker Of The Stars was more to my taste (and for those who know me...it is NOT because of the title!! lol) I also really liked Sing For Joy, but my favorite was  the final track, Trust In You. Both the lyrics and the style touched me.

So, you can see why I am torn on this one. This is well done, and the lyrics really spoke to me, so this may be one I prefer to read instead. Seriously, I am sure my daughter or granddaughter will be grabbing my copy to enjoy!! I did hear Robert Pierre live last year on the WINTERJAM 2010 tour. I enjoyed his music, especially his version of  You Hold Me Now. I doubt if I would go just to hear him, though.  He is talented, but just not a right fit for me.

I said this is a review and a give-away, so here are the rules: Comment on this blog post (or to me if you have problems, so I can enter you myself) no later than 11:59pm CDT to be entered into a random drawing.

New CD by Rebecca St. James

It has been 6 years since Rebecca St. James last released a cd and I must say...this one is worth the wait! Her talent and her love for God shine through each song. I WILL PRAISE YOU is both the title of the cd and the first song. This is a message of hope in the midst of storms and is followed by a personal favorite: You Never Let Go. The theme is continued in Shine Your Glory Down.

You Still Amaze Me and the triumphant In A Moment, are quickly becoming 2 of my favorite worship songs. Each of the songs has a message of hope and encouragement that God is always with us, along with a reminder of our future hope. The Kindness Of Our God is a poignant remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice for our sins and When The Stars Burn Down tell of our eternal Home.

Almighty God, You Hold Me Now (a fave that always comforts me), and You Make Everything Beautiful are reassurances that God is with us always and we can always turn to Him. There is not a single song that did not touch me and draw me into a closer time of praise and worship. This is a cd that you will want for your own, plus copies to share with others who need to know of the hope we have in our Lord.
