Anne Wilson - REBEL

Anne Wilson is a PLATINUM-certified, GRAMMY-nominated artist and songwriter who has recently released her sophomore album, REBEL. This album features 16 tracks and blends the genres of Christian and Country Music. Collaborations include CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson for “Praying Woman,” GRAMMY-Award winner Chris Tomlin for “The Cross” and Country superstar Jordan Davis for “Country Gold.”

Anne Wilson is the only female artist to have 3 No. 1 singles across the Mediabase Christian AC and Christian Audience Radio charts since she debuted in 2021 with her first single, “My Jesus.” Each song off REBEL was written under the banner question, “what does it mean to be a rebel in the world we live in today?” and thus given a corresponding tag line and bible verse.

Tickets are now on sale for Anne Wilson’s The REBEL Tour with Jordan
Rowe, including 28 dates across the US in Fall 2024. TICKETS

Anne Wilson has a non-profit movement and community called Hey Girl Nation for girls and women of all ages to be encouraged and empowered by who they are in Christ alone. She has a specific desire to be a positive role model for girls who need one to look up to. One that reflects wholesome values that are rarely portrayed in today’s culture. Anne’s heart with her music and platform is to impact culture with a message of hope, faith, courage, and most of all, God’s love.

My Review: Anne Wilson's "REBEL" is a wonderful album that will touch the hearts of all who hear it. I love that each song has a corresponding Bible verse and tag line (can be found in the REBEL physical CD or Vinyl packaging booklet) to bring even deeper meaning to the song. Perfect for part of a daily devotion! The lyrics are as beautiful as the music and I have enjoyed having the entire album, although my favorite is "The Cross" which also features Chris Tomlin. I recommend you add this one to your music collection.

 Anne Wilson Boilerplate Bio:
One of Nashville's most inspiring
young trailblazers, Anne Wilson is a revolution in modern music. The
Lexington, Ky. native, known for her transcendent vocal and down-to-earth storytelling, recently released REBEL, fusing the heart of Contemporary Christian Music with the sound of Country. A bold musical statement with an even bolder message of faith, REBEL features her
hopeful, healing debut Country single “Rain In The Rearview” as well as chart-topping Christian radio ballad “Strong.” The genre-bending album follows her GRAMMY-nominated 2022 debut My Jesus, with the title track becoming a PLATINUM-certified No. 1 hit on Billboard's Christian Airplay chart. Since then, Wilson has tallied over 900M global streams, made her Grand Ole Opry debut and wrapped her entirely sold-out headlining My Jesus Tour. Already named a Spotify Hot Country Artist to Watch, one of CMT's Next Women of Country and a 2024 Opry NextStage Artist, she has made high-profile appearances on TODAY and ACM Honors, while earning her first-ever CMT Music Awards nomination, as well as a Billboard Music Award. Unapologetically real, Wilson approaches her craft with a purpose and conviction that sets her apart, declaring, “I am who I am — I'm Anne Wilson. I love God and that's my everything, but I love Country music, too, and I can have a beautiful mix of both.”

Unsung Hero

UNSUNG HERO opens in theaters on April 26th! When David Smallbone's successful music company collapses, his family emigrates from Australia to the United States. With only their 6 children, 16 suitcases, and their love of music, David (for KING + COUNTRY's Joel Smallbone) and his pregnant wife Helen (Daisy Betts) set out to rebuild their lives from the ground up.

Daisy Betts as Helen Smallbone

Based on a remarkable true story, a mum's faith stands firm; and inspires her husband and children to turn adversity into adventure while bonding into a close-knit group who prioritize God and family. Buy tickets today to see Unsung Hero in theaters starting April 26th!

MY REVIEW: This is an excellent movie that is so much more than a biopic about the Smallbone family. Many people know Rebecca St. James and the for King and Country brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone for their music. I was aware they had emigrated from Australia to Tennessee, but I knew few details other than they were a large family.

UNSUNG HERO is the story of why they left Australia and the struggles of their early years in America. When the expected job David was depending on to restart his career as a Christian music promoter fell through, his wife provided the firm conviction that their faith in God would hold them together and that He would provide their needs and she remained confident that her husband would become successful. Helen Smallbone became the "backbone" as she taught her young children to rely on God and each other in a joint effort to hold her family together. Her ability to provide faith-building ideas, along with gifting her children with a sense of adventure during the hardships is a source of inspiration to all mothers who know the struggle of holding everything together...even if you feel like falling apart sometime.

Lucas Black
Each actor involved was wonderful in his or her role. I especially loved Terry O'Quinn as David's dad, Candace Cameron Bure as the pastor's wife was a lot of fun to watch, and my fellow Alabamian Lucas Black is always a special treat in any role. Older viewers also need to watch for former HAPPY DAYS actor Donny Most (Ralph Malph) in a brief role.

I thoroughly loved the movie...I watched it 3 times! It is inspirational without being sappy and a strong testament to the power of faith and the blessings and strength that come with hard work, a vow to support one another, finding joy in the little things, never giving up, and always remembering God is with you at all times.

GLORIA GAYNOR: I Will Survive

GLORIA GAYNOR: I WILL SURVIVE: A Journey of Faith, Hope, and a Magnificent Second Act. This One-Night-Only documentary is the story of a Disco legend who, for five decades, has inspired millions with her words I WILL SURVIVE. Gaynor only truly understood the lyrics when she hit rock bottom herself. This is a look at her journey!

"Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive" is in theaters only on February 13, 2024. BUY TICKETS.

At the age of 65, facing a devastating divorce to her husband and manager of 25 years, financial ruin, and spiraling health concerns, Gaynor sought to not only survive, but thrive with unwavering faith and the spark of new dreams.

The film follows Gaynor as she embarks on a difficult 8-year journey to write and record a gospel album. We discover a tale of the remarkable challenges that fueled Gaynor’s music and path to stardom. "GLORIA GAYNOR: I WILL SURVIVE" celebrates reinvention, the power of faith, and a magnificent second act.

My Review: I had the chance to see this in advance, so I want to write a personal recommendation. I confess that I have never been a huge fan of disco, but I Will Survive was an exception from the moment I heard it, and I still love the song. Gloria Gaynor is definitely talented and this film proves her voice is as beautiful as ever. Seeing the ups and downs of her career, marriage, and painful health issues demonstrate that "I Will Survive" is a poignant, powerful anthem to define her life. I also remember when she did an updated version after becoming a Christian, using "
Only the Lord could give me strength not to fall apart" in the lyrics.

Part of the movie is about her goal of making a gospel music album. Two of my favorite artists, Bart Millard and Jason Crabb, were involved in making this album. Released in 2019 [Gaither Music Group], "Testimony" won the Grammy Award for Best Roots Gospel Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards.

The Journey

THE JOURNEY: A Music Special from Andrea Bocelli is an exploration of moments that define us, songs that inspire us, and relationships that connect us to what matters most in life.
Bocelli’s hope is that the movie "offers an invitation to fully live and recognize our daily miracles."

"THE JOURNEY" combines world-class musical performances with intimate conversations across the awe-inspiring Italian country-side. In addition to Andrea Bocelli, "THE JOURNEY" features Michael W. Smith, Tori Kelly, Tauren Wells, TAYA, 2CELLOS (Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser) and many others in amazing musical performances across majestic locations.

Brought to you by TBN, "The Journey" is in select theaters April 2nd - 9th. BUY TICKETS HERE.

My Review: My one word review is, "Magnificent!" The music, the musicians, and the gorgeous view are each fabulous on their own, but the combination is an event you don't want to miss. I was already a fan of many of the musicians listed so I expected to LIKE "The Journey" but it exceeded my expectations. The conversations with both family and friends along the way added to intimacy yet invited the viewer to be a part. This is a perfect worship experience to add to your Holy Week activities.

All In - Matthew West cd

Matthew West wrote his new album All In with the goal of encouraging himself and others to get up off the sidelines of their faith and really live it out – to go all in in your time with God, all in with your family, all in with your community, and all in battling your fears that may hold you back from becoming who God made you to be. Along that same theme, Matthew launched a 6-week All in Challenge on his social media starting 9/18. Each week Matthew will be challenging his fans to go all in in a different part of their lives. What does it look like when a heart that knows Jesus takes a step and holds nothing back? How can we go All In in the places that mean the most?

My Review: Overall, I really liked the CD. I do believe the title song will become a fan favorite; Not a style I am as fond of, but that's okay. "Broken Things" was really good, but I fell in love with the CD over "Mercy is a Song." "Amen" was another upbeat song that I found my toes tapping to, and enjoyed hearing a bit of Matthew's story in "A Life Worth Changing." "Something Greater" really was great...and "Jesus and You" was amazing; I could have hit replay several times. But then it would have delayed, "The Beautiful Things We Miss" and that's definitely a song I am happy I didn't miss. "1 Song" was good and I loved "Power of a Sound Mind." "Never Give Up" is likely to become a 'power anthem' for many...as in "Dream Again." I really liked "Becoming Me" and "You Are Known" was a perfect, encouraging end. There is also a Bonus track that made me laugh out loud---literally.

I confess, I was having a frustrating day, and reviewing a CD was just one more task to check off my to-do list. But, the more I listened, I could feel my tension easing. I was drawn away from my problems into a less self-focused attitude into a reminder that my life is about so much more than little frustrations. I give All In a solid A.
