Inspirational Indie Film Inspires Kinkade Painting

The original Texas independent feature, “Beyond The Farthest Star,” and The Thomas Kinkade Company will announce the release of a new painting on Monday, April 20, 2015. Thomas Kinkade CEO, John Hasting, will make a formal announcement 7PM Monday at Theatre 166 in Carrollton. The film’s stars include Texas natives ReneĆ© O’Connor, Todd Terry and Barry Corbin, along with Billy McNamara, Andrew Prine, Cherami Leigh and Lou Beatty, Jr.

Dallas, Texas – April 15, 2015–
Pathlight Entertainment and the producers of the feature film, “Beyond The Farthest Star,” partners with The Thomas Kinkade Company on the dual national release of a Kinkade painting and the film that inspired it. Along with the painting, the feature film will experience a national city-by-city, Theater-On-Demand distribution. Fans have been awaiting news of the film’s theatrical release for the past year. Overwhelming fan response on the new website at www.BeyondTheFarthestStar.com and Facebook demonstrates large interest in the story and film.

Early in 2012, famed artist Thomas Kinkade, experienced a rough-edit of  “Beyond The Farthest Star” and was inspired by its dramatic story. The “Painter of Light” usually crafted a watercolor for concept, color and layout before completing a final painting in oil. However, days after the initial work, Kinkade died suddenly. The father of four girls, it was his wish that the painting and film reach other families, just as his images captivate millions.

After the unfinished work sat dormant in the Kinkade vault, Thomas Kinkade’s brother, Patrick, desired to honor his brother’s wish. He encouraged his son (and Thomas’s nephew), Zachary Thomas Kinkade, to consider completing the original idea. Now, continuing in the Kinkade legacy, Zachary is inspired to explore Thom’s original concept and paint a new impression of the vision.
"We delayed the release of the film for quite some time as we have been waiting to make the formal announcement of the painting. Now the world will experience the Kinkade painting and the film story that inspired it, as it was meant to be,” says Executive Producer, Benjamin Dane.

The painting honors “Beyond the Farthest Star” and Thomas Kinkade’s concept with the characters from the film looking up into a sparkling night sky over a quaint Texas city. Most can relate to observing the stars. The painting captures that feeling with the Kinkade “touch”– glowing stars and an idyllic city in lights beneath. An image of Thomas’ original study may also appear on the back.

Pathlight Entertainment, in cooperation with The Kinkade Company’s local gallery, will release the film this summer along with the painting, in a special one-night cinema event. Then “Beyond The Farthest Star” will release in theaters across the country through GATHR. This grassroots system allows fans to control when and where they experience “Star”, on the exact day and time they select. Interested individuals are encouraged to email staff for more information at kathryn@pathlightentertainment.com. “Star” has received powerful endorsements, reviews and support. The film has also inspired a Harper-Collins novel by famed author team, Bodie and Brock Thoene, and a remake of the classic song, “Beauty For Ashes” by Crystal Lewis.

The “Beyond The Farthest Star” cast includes international star Renee O’Connor ("Xena", "Ark", "Boogeyman 2"), Todd Terry (“Breaking Bad”, “Arlington Road”, “Fissure”), Barry Corbin (“No Country for Old Men”, “Anger Management”, “War Games”), William McNamara (“Copycat”, “Chasers”, “The Legend of Hell’s Gate”), Andrew Prine (“The Miracle Worker”, “Gettysburg”, “The Dukes of Hazzard”) and Cherami Leigh (“Temple Grandlin”, “Fast Food Nation”).

“Star” is helmed by writer/director, Andrew Librizzi ("Holding On", "Still Born"), executive produced by Benjamin Dane ("The Significant Other", "Still Born") and produced by Sally Helppie ("Exit Speed", "The Beacon").

Richard Propes, The Independent Critic says, "Beyond the Farthest Star is that rare film with the courage to speak a harsh and authentic truth while never losing sight of its grander truth." Although Pastor Adam Wells is revered as "the Next Billy Graham" of the sleepy Texas town, circumstances are forcing him to choose between church superstardom and his fractured family.

The Thomas Kinkade Company CEO, John Hasting, along with Writer/Director Andrew Librizzi and Executive Producer Benjamin Dane, will make a formal announcement at the Dallas CMA Event – Monday, April 20th 7PM at Theatre 166 in Carrollton, TX.  You can RSVP at CMA Dallas Kinkade Event.

When Ashes Are All That Is Left

Courtesy: Pathlight Entertainment
A sleepy Texas town's nativity is burned to ashes by a former U.S. senator and the media swarms, starting a national debate; pitting the town, the senator and a minister's family in a fight ending in sacrifice.

Beyond the Farthest Star has a storyline that revolves around a nativity that was burned by an angry senator...leaving it in ashes, but there are more than the literal flames in this film. There are the flames of jealousy, mistrust, abuse, depression, loneliness, and rage that threaten to consume these multi-dimensional characters. Some are smoldering embers that threaten to deaden the emotions, but others shoot off sparks that reignite and cause fresh fires that threaten to consume and destroy.

Yet, sometimes fire is not meant to destroy. 1 Peter 1:7 tells us, "
These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold--though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.". (NLT) Sometimes people are destroyed by the fires that rage within them, but there are times we go through other virtual fires in order to refine and strengthen us. As we are reminded in the film, God will "...give unto them beauty for ashes..." (Is. 61:3, KJV)

This film touches on topics like
  • Separation of Church and State
  • Teen depression and Self Harm
  • Abortion / Sanctity of Life
  • Priorities of Life - Leaving a Legacy
  • The Importance of Marriage Vows
  • Fathers
A great idea is to buy DVDs as an outreach for those whose lives are affected by some of the issues above. There are teens feeling depressed or suicidal, people struggling with marriage issues, or men wanting to be a better father. Or, this is ideal for anyone who is letting their dreams die and need to know that there is hope to be found. You have heard that "A picture is worth a thousand words", so a movie will speak volumes!

BEYOND THE FARTHEST STAR is a tremendous film. Hope From The Heart calls it, “Dynamic! A great story of restoration and a gateway to address difficult issues and brokenness!" Richard Propes, The Independent Critic says, “ Inspired. It's refreshing to watch a film that so successfully infuses faith into the frequently harsh realities of life... without turning its faith into a greeting card sentimentality." And multi-Dove Award-winning artist Crystal Lewis said after watching with her teen daughter, "This film shows that there is hope, that restoration and redemption can come out of the darkness, and that beauty truly can be found among the ashes."

Andrew Librizzi

Beyond The Farthest Star's Andrew Librizzi is a talented  playwright, director, and producer who is dedicated to putting out a film of the highest quality. The feedback from those who have been privileged to see an advanced screening of BTFS have given the film very high praise, so I have no doubt that his standards of excellence are worth the wait. The few snippets the rest of us have seen have merely whetted my appetite for more, but I know it will be better to see the film as Andy envisions it. Getting a chance to read the novel (based on the screenplay) written by Bodie and Brock Thoene has helped. Since I have seen few films and books that were identical, reading the book did not spoil the film for me at all. It is going to be amazing to see these characters come to life on screen, and there are some outstanding actors in these roles.

Andy and actor/producer Benjamin Dane discuss BTFS during a T*CHAT:

Andy has also written and directed several corporate projects, plus has several  films and plays to his credit. His first (award winning) film was Holding On  in 1992. In 2009, his short film Still Born had multiple nominations and 2 wins at the 168 Film Project. One of the first  High Definition Television pilots, Texas Tales and Legends , was directed and edited by Andy...and was hosted by none other than Barry Corbin. In 1995, Mr. Librizzi established the Desert Bloom Theatre  in Dallas, and the list of his plays include The Boxer's Garden and Peanut Butter and Tofu on Jewish Rye. Another of his plays, The First Church Of Texaco  had a very successful run in 2013 at the A. D. Players Theater which is located in Houston, TX

Benjamin Dane

Gail Cronauer, Barry Corbin, and Benjamin Dane
Benjamin Dane is featured in the supporting role of  Police Officer Jimmy Wilkens in Beyond The Farthest Star. Leonard, Texas has a small police department that Chief Burns has been in charge of for a number of years and  Jimmy is Burns' right-hand man. The two of them and Joycee, the police dispatcher, know this small town and the people who live here as well as any and better than most. Because of this, there are several reasons that causes Jimmy to not be too keen on Senator John Cutter. In BTFS, Officer Wilkens is a pivotal character who discovers a terrible scene that escalates the story!!

Ben is a consummate professional who ably fulfills two roles in this film. Not only is he an actor, but he also is one of the producers. In fact, he is the "face" of the BTFS videos, bringing updates and encouraging us to go to the BTFS website and vote to BRING IT! Since I will be doing more stories on the people who are not actors as part of this series, there will be more to come on Benjamin Dane. In the meantime, you can also look for him in 2012 in the films, I Am Gabriel and Second Impression. Find out more about the many roles of Benjamin Dane  and keep up with him on the following sites:
