My Review: I loved this movie! There are heartbreaking moments in the film with Austin's health issues and the struggle his parents have to cope with his care, yet "The Unbreakable Boy" is also inspirational, hope-filled, and some parts are laugh-out-loud funny! Drew Powell as "Joe" brings comic relief, but the sheer joy of living demonstrated by Austin, wonderfully played by Jacob Laval, lifts the film higher even in some of the most serious scenes.

Each of the actors, whether they are a major or minor character, are outstanding. Zachary Levi and Meghann Fahy were excellent as they dealt with the many issues in their lives and grew stronger over the years. I loved Patricia Heaton and Todd Terry as Scott's parents. And Austin's younger brother (Logan), played by Gavin Warren, is admirable as the supportive sibling. The younger versions of Austin and Logan are to be commended also. This is definitely a MUST-SEE, in my opinion.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

The Herdman kids are absolutely the worst. They lie, they steal, they bully...and they’ve hijacked the town Christmas pageant.

Directed by Dallas Jenkins (“The Chosen”) and based on the international bestseller by Barbara Robinson, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER follows six siblings who sneak into church searching for snacks and walk away with the lead roles in the town pageant. Grace (Judy Greer) is directing the performance for the very first time; she and her daughter Beth (Molly Belle Wright) and husband Bob (Pete Holmes) are less than amused. But the play’s mischievous stars might unwittingly teach a community the true meaning of Christmas. Featuring Lauren Graham. Screenplay by Ryan Swanson and Platte F. Clark & Darin McDaniel.

The newest film from Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company is based on the beloved children’s classic book. As of November 2023, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson has sold more than 7 million copies since its publication in 1972. Get ready for Christmas by watching this film with your family in theaters starting November 8! BUY TICKETS TODAY!!

Want to see this with a group of family and friends? Check the website for GROUP TICKETS! The more the merrier!!

My Review: "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" has been a family classic for 50+ years, beginning with the book by Barbara Robinson. I also remember how much my family loved the made-for-TV movie in 1983. If you loved those, you want to see this latest version directed by Dallas Jenkins (The Chosen). It's a timeless story that any age can relate to that brings both laughter and tears.

The rowdy Herdman kids only come to church for the snacks, but their curiosity opens the opportunity to share the story of the birth of Jesus and why Christians celebrate. We sometimes forget that others around us may not know the real meaning of Christmas. This film is highly entertaining, and a reminder that Christmas is a time to share...not just tangible gifts, but the message of the love of Jesus for all people. Don't miss this one!

MY REVIEW: This film brings a poignant reminder of how there are still kind and compassionate people willing to risk their lives for others. On the flip side, we're also reminded of the cruelty of people who become inflamed by hatred based on bigotry. Do you need to have seen "Wonder" to follow the story? No.

I believe this is the first film I have watched about Nazi-occupied France, so it was a slightly different angle for me. The story kept my interest and is suitable for kids as young as 12, in my opinion. There are violent scenes, but nothing too graphic. Not only is it a conversation starter about world history, but a teaching moment about choosing to be kind despite the chaos and short tempers of people around you (and online). I do recommend seeing this film while it's in theaters.

Ordinary Angels

One of the most eagerly anticipated movies is coming to theaters on February 23, 2024! Based on a remarkable true story, ORDINARY ANGELS centers on Sharon (Hilary Swank), a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed (Alan Ritchson), a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters. With his youngest daughter (Emily Mitchell) waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains to do it. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles, and ordinary angels. WEBSITE

BUY TICKETS: Ordinary Angels tickets. Group tickets are also available!

My Review: My expectations were high...and they were met! Ordinary Angels is an outstanding movie with characters you grow to care about and an extraordinary story to tell. It is based on a true story, and from what I've read, does stay close to actual events. Writers Kelly Fremon Craig and Meg Tilly, along with director Jon Gunn, are to be commended. Actors Hilary Swank, Alan Ritchson, Nancy Travers, Emily Mitchell, and Skywalker Hughes (plus the rest of the cast) are fantastic.

The story is about a child desperately needing a liver transplant and a stranger who feels compelled to help the family with mounting medical bills. It sounds like a tear-jerker, but this film offers hope along with laughter that keeps the viewer fully engrossed. In my opinion, "Ordinary Angels" is a Must-See film! Once again Kingdom Story Company (Jon Erwin, Andy Erwin, and Kevin Downes) have produced an amazing film! Distributed via Lionsgate.

American Underdog

American Underdog tells the inspirational true story of Kurt Warner (Zachary Levi), who went from a stockboy at a grocery store to a two-
time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Fame quarterback.

The film centers on Warner’s unique story and years of challenges and setbacks that could have derailed his aspirations to become an NFL player – but just when his dreams seemed
all but out of reach, with the support of his wife, Brenda (Anna Paquin), and the encouragement of his family, coaches, and teammates that Warner perseveres and finds the strength to show the world the champion that he already is. American Underdog is an uplifting story that demonstrates that anything is possible when you have faith, family and determination.

American Underdog is a fantastic film for the family to see together this holiday season. Whether you want to see a film about the formation of a new family and the bonds of love that grow stronger, the faith of a family that chooses to trust God in all circumstances and always ready to share their faith both in private and in public arenas, or you just love watching some amazing football action...American Underdog has something for YOU! Since faith, family, and football are all of interest to me, I was very well pleased when I saw it. It's also based on the true story of a man (Kurt Warner) I have admired for many years.

Frankly, I am also a huge fan of Jon and Andy Erwin and Kevin Downes of Kingdom Story Company. Every film they make is added to my Favorites list. An added bonus for American Underdog is having Dennis Quaid in the film! I also loved seeing Danny Vinson. The film is scheduled to open Christmas Day in theaters across the nation! I highly recommend you make plans to attend opening week as an additional treat. You can BUY TICKETS in advance and avoid long lines.

There is also a 5 day Bible Study on YouVersion from American Underdog

I Still Believe - Review and Giveaway

One love can change your life. One life can change the world. From the creators of I CAN ONLY IMAGINE comes an inspiring love story for the ages. Rediscover the wonder of love in I STILL BELIEVE, based on the real-life story of chart-topping singer Jeremy Camp.

From Lionsgate/ Kingdom Studios and starring KJ Apa, Britt Robertson, Gary Sinise, and Shania Twain, this was an eagerly anticipated film. After an excellent opening weekend, the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic put a close to theaters. This led to a few weeks of successful VOD, and now the film has now been released to DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital Downloads. Get yours at your favorite retailer or the istillbelievemovie.com website.

I saw an early prescreening of the film and really did enjoy it, and I refreshed my memory this week with the digital download offered to LEV3L bloggers. The film is based on the story of Christian musician Jeremy Camp and his first wife, Melissa. Their love story was tragically cut short due to ovarian cancer, but the film cannot be written off as a dramatic, tragic tear-jerker. It tells the story of a young, sweet romance between two people who grew even closer to each other and increased their faith in God. Melissa's story is one of courage, peace, inner strength, hope, and inspiration. She wanted her life to make an impact on others and this film fulfills that purpose. Jeremy's grief was heartbreaking, yet the viewer is inspired by his faith in God and that he kept his trust in God and his hope in the future.

I really did enjoy the film but not quite as much as I did I Can Only Imagine. Without giving any spoilers, a couple of scenes seemed out of place or a bit baffling (although they may have actually happened that way). However, I do highly recommend the film; I just get nit-picky when something doesn't quite make sense to me. Overall, the film is definitely one you will want to add to your personal film library. I have watched it 3 times so far and am excited to have a copy to watch many more times.

SPEAKING OF OWNING A COPY... Here's YOUR chance to win a Digital Download of I Still Believe! Enter to win with #BELIEVEL3 ... and Submit your question(s) for Jeremy to answer in his video--- about the film... about his music... about his life... about his source of Hope (or, tell me your favorite Jeremy Camp song) in comments under the post.

The giveaway includes:
  • FREE digital edition of I STILL BELIEVE
  • I STILL BELIEVE pop socket (for your smartphone)
  • I STILL BELIEVE wristband
  • Exclusive QandA with Jeremy Camp (via video)
DEADLINE TO ENTER IS MAY 17, 2020

UPDATE!
