MY REVIEW of Explorer Bible Dictionary for Kids: The CSB Explorer Bible Dictionary is one of the most exciting books I have read for helping kids study the Bible. The bright, colorful pages are inviting to read but the information is what will hold their attention. Hundreds of common Bible terms are paired with an explanation and Scripture references to match. The charts and maps included as an aid to understand the Bible are outstanding. I would have loved this resource when I was a child.

This book is perfect for church, Sunday schools, homeschool, Bible studies, or for a personal reference library. Families who study the Bible together will certainly use this while teaching their children. I have several great-grandkids in elementary school, and this will be useful when questions arise to keep things at their level.

I highly recommend this dictionary for the children in your life. It will be an excellent resource for additional study while kids are on their summer break.

My Review: I love Study Bibles and the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) is one of my favorite versions of the Holy Bible, so I am extra excited to have the opportunity o review the CSB Women's Study Bible! The Bible I received to review is a hardcover with a beautiful floral print. It's a bit heavy, but perfect for serious study; the pages will stay open as you make notes in a journal or whatever you prefer. A table or desk selected for regular Bible Study would be wonderful for this Bible, a notebook/journal, and any other learning tools you need. 

The inside of the Bible is even better than the outside! Of course, the Scripture, both Old and New Testaments are the most important, but I do love the maps, charts, photos, biographies, study notes, timelines, concordance, features, and more. It has a 9.5 point text that is comfortable to read. 

My personal disappointments are that this Bible is not Red Letter text and that the margins are too small for writing notes. But, there are a ton of notes already provided, and you can use colored pencils or highlighters to mark a verse or passage that has a special meaning for you. Overall, I highly recommend this Bible.

REVIEW: If you are looking for a good Bible to read, this may be the one for you, especially if you like to take notes in the margin! I do love the extra room beside the Scriptures to write your own thoughts or notes from a sermon. The font is comfortable to read and the cover is soft and supple to hold as you read. The Christian Standard Bible is also one of my favorite translations. The maps, concordance, and Bible Reading Plan are also convenient additions. Many women will also enjoy features like articles by well-known women of God, and character profiles of women mentioned in the Bible.

As a personal preference, the bright yellow (marigold) cover isn't my first choice, but it may well be the first thing that other women find to be appealing. It is like a ray of sunshine among my other books and reflects the hope we find inside the cover. I also prefer a study Bible, but this is a more comfortable Bible to carry to church or a Bible study group. Overall, I am well pleased with this Bible and will suggest it to others.

REVIEW: The CSB Explorer Bible for Kids invites young readers to investigate both the world and words of Scripture, including the history of real people and their cultures. I do like the Christian Standard Bible and love that it is what is used. All of the additional info and special features provide knowledge for a child who wants to know more. I would have loved this Bible when I was young.

The QR Codes sound like an amazing addition. To be honest, I have never scanned a QR Code and have no clue how it is done. I definitely need to add it to my list of things that I should learn! But, I imagine most kids do know how and will be pleased with the additional content available.

There are Leathertouch editions available, but I am reviewing the hardcover edition. I love the sturdy cover that will withstand daily use from younger kids and the ribbon bookmark. The pages are easy to read, too. I like it for older elementary school kids rather than beginning readers but it's a good one to grow into if you want this for a new reader. They do learn quickly and a bit harder is better than too easy. I do recommend this as a good Bible to give to a child.

MY REVIEW: Are you a serious student of the Bible, looking for details and descriptions that aren't found in your average Bible? Then, the CSB Holy Land Illustrated Bible (Holman Bible Publishers) is the Bible you need! Not only is there the entirety of holy scripture, but there are numerous articles, photos, and maps to provide a depth of enlightenment and understanding of what was happening, where, and who was involved. Dedicated scholars have poured their knowledge into a single volume that is a treasure trove of information. Check out the Table of Contents here. 

 

And, you can't forget the maps! They have fascinated me since my first Bible I received as a 6 year old, and I am happy to see them in this Bible. There is also an extensive concordance to aid you in searching for specific scripture. Naturally, the introduction to each book is a major asset in discovering the author, audience, time frame, and any other relevant info.

There are a few downsides, though. The book is literally heavy. Weighing in at nearly 4 pounds, I cannot carry it in one hand without fear of dropping it. The print is readable, but I would have preferred it to be just a bit larger. And there are no margins for notes that I like to make when studying. However... those additions would make this Bible even heavier. Keep in mind, I am older, so I am speaking only of my personal preferences. The info and photos outweigh the cons. Plus, I love how the CBS Holy Land Illustrated Bible lies flat while open. That makes it easier to read and to write notes in a notebook, or my computer, without worrying over losing my place. I definitely recommend this Bible!

My Review: If you are looking for a new Bible for yourself or a special man in your life, I definitely recommend the CSB He Reads Truth Bible! There are timelines, background history, reading plans, key verses, and maps. If you are a note-taker, the wide margins will please you. The additional features included invite you to dig deeper into God's Word and develop a greater understanding of what was happening and how the stories may connect in other books of the Bible.

The only 2 problems I had are not going to be an issue for most. The print was a little smaller than I prefer, but it's a personal preference. Each page can be easily read for most people. The other difficulty for me is that the book weighs 3.90 lbs. I could hold it in my hand to read, but it was a bit heavy. (Of course, if it had larger print, that would have meant more pages and added weight.) 

The good, however, far outweigh the things that I had slight problems with, though. It's an excellent study Bible that will hold together through years of use. It would also make an outstanding FATHER'S DAY GIFT!

CSB Day-by-Day Chronological Bible

Many people read the Bible daily, and a goal is often to have a "Read the Bible in a Year" plan. But do you get lost trying to remember the timeline of the Bible? God reveals Himself to us through the pages of His Word and it helps to have a clear understanding of the history and stories as you learn how they fit together. The CSB Day-by-Day Chronological Bible, published by Lifeway Christian Resources, features a clear narrative approach to the Bible, arranging the complete text into a fresh chronological reading plan with daily readings guided by Dr. George Guthrie. The CSB Day-by-Day Chronological Bible features the highly readable, highly reliable text of the Christian Standard Bible® (CSB). The CSB stays as literal as possible to the Bible’s original meaning without sacrificing clarity, making it easier to engage with Scripture’s life-transforming message and to share it with others.

Not to be confused with a regular Bible or a Daily Reading Bible, the Day-by-Day Chronological Bible, is set up with weekly readings with the Bible history told from beginning to end; This is a much different layout than a regular Bible. Rather like a play, movie, or book, this Bible is divided into 3 main acts (God’s Plan for All People; God’s Covenant People; God’s New Covenant People) and 17 scenes, with an intro for each act and scene to orient the reader to its importance in the grand story. This brown Leathertouch has single-column text with plenty of space for taking notes, concordance, smyth-sewn binding, presentation page, and 8 full-color maps.

 My Review: I absolutely love it! Despite years of trying various reading plans, and being a lover of history, I still get confused about the timeline of the Bible. I love the weekly/6 day set up and appreciate the additional reading by Dr. Guthrie to further clarify what's happening. From the feel of the outside cover to the contents inside, I can hardly wait to start using this Bible to study. I have used mostly HCSB in recent years but recently bought a small CSB to take to church (since our new pastor uses CSB). Of course, I also go online to look at other translations too, especially when I am wanting to make sure I have a clear understanding of a passage of Scripture. Keep in mind, though, that this is NOT a regular Bible with the books lined up in their standard order. This Bible is meant for a study of God's story through His scripture... laid out via a timeline. It's a tool meant to increase your knowledge.
