Tenacious Faith Tour - Nashville

Tenacious Faith is the name of a new women’s conference. The first stop of the tour is happening in just a few days, and you have a chance to be one of the first to be part of this dynamic ministry. As the name implies, the purpose is to reach out and encourage women to be unwavering in their faith, and not give up while undergoing challenges that will inevitably be faced.

Cornerstone Nashville will host the speakers of the Tenacious Faith conference being held Oct 23-24. Women of all ages are welcome to come experience a weekend of hope, inspiration, and spiritual refreshment. Keynote speaker Kay Arthur, co-founder of Precepts Ministries, is joined by a powerhouse lineup of influential speakers and performers including best-selling author and speaker, Patsy Clairmont; world renowned artist, Nicole C. Mullen; co-founder of Oasis Church of Nashville, Jillian Chambers; and Christian singer, songwriter, and special guest of “The Voice,” Anthony Evans.

Additional speakers include CEO of Co-Parenting International and Mason Jar Productions, Tammy Daughtry; founder and CEO of Home Educating Association (HEDUA), LLC, Rebecca Keliher; founder of Celebrating Women, Linda Trimble; founder and president of Getting Real Ministries, Dawn Pulgine; founder and creator of MomLife Today, Tracey Eyster; author/blogger and Wives of Faith founder, Sara Horn; Dear Magazine publisher Jennifer Sukut; and founder of CUE 52, Jana Jackson.

Speakers will be sharing their personal stories on prayer, emotional health, parenting, self-esteem, organization, enjoying God, authentic friendship, homeschooling, co-parenting after divorce, celebrating singleness, intentional influence and following God’s will. The weekend includes worship, shopping, book signings, movie trailers, a Friday night concert with Nicole C. Mullen and a keepsake collectable program. As Silver Refined by Kay Arthur

Sometimes Life does not turn out the way you expected, and you wonder why God allowed certain things to happen. Whether it is a major event or just many little things all coming together, all of us have had something devastating, or even just disappointing happen in our lives. In As Silver Refined, author Kay Arthur suggests that "the things you call disappointments are really His appointments." 

Dr. Joseph Carroll  of  the Evangelical Institute of Greenville, SC  is the person Kay credits with introducing her to the idea of the "5 Deadly D's": Disappointment, Discouragement, Dejection, Despair, Demoralization.  I have to admit that I got a bit confused here since she also threw in disturbed, disheartened, depression, and demoralization (plus, I read disbelief somewhere else). Being the person I am, I guess I should also toss in distraction! Things like that are my fault, though, and not the author's. I also struggle with the Precept concept because I get so focused on properly coloring and using the correct symbols that I miss the point.

I do have mixed views on the book, though. I am all too familiar with all of the "D's" mentioned, and I do appreciate the Scripture provided and can definitely see the benefits of going through the Study Guide provided in the back. Perhaps the brief overall of just reading the book for review purposes is why I still feel like something is missing. And, of course, this book is not meant to be a one-time-read "cure-all". The conversational style of writing makes this seem more of a personal journal; it does bother me a bit to be called "beloved", but that is just me.

Still, I would recommend this book to others. There is no doubt that Kay has gone through some of these emotions and feelings herself. There is a depth of understanding present that not all authors are capable of presenting on the written page. I did glean useful info from the pages, and I know several people who find her methods to be incredibly helpful.

When The Hurt Runs Deep

Kay Arthur's latest book deals with hope and healing that can come from some of life's most desperate and pain-filled trials. This book addresses issues of pain caused by others, and problems you may have brought on yourself through poor decisions. Through-out the book, Kay reminds the reader that the best place to take your pain and hurts is to the cross. Jesus went through suffering that is unimaginable and He wants to bring you through this pain into a deeper relationship with Him. God can and will turn your disappointments, pain, and suffering into hope. Sharing tribulations from her own life and stories from others, the reader is assured she is not alone. There are several examples given from Scripture of others who went through pain and despair, yet were still able to not only survive, but thrive, in their relationship with God.

There were many topics in this book I could relate to : death of a baby, rebellious children, divorce, and a few other painful experiences. I know what it is like to cling to God through the pain, and there are years I rebelled against Him.While I have faced several problems through-out my life, some of the experiences that are touched on in this book are so traumatizing that I cannot imagine the sheer horror of it all. These women desperately need to know that they are not at fault and to be able to rebuild their lives. I loved the Scripture, the assurances of God's love, and the Bible study that is easily used on your own or as part of a small group study. This is certainly a book that aids in the healing of trauma and guides a person into the loving embrace of her Heavenly Father.
