Saved By Grace

SAVED BY GRACE, starring Jennifer Taylor and Cameron Arnett as two angels sent to help people, is the newest series to be streaming on PureFlix.com! The series is written and directed by Johnny Remo and co-written by Daniel Backman.

SYNOPSIS: There are no chance meetings or coincidences in life. Angels are amongst us and God has sent them on a mission to intercede on behalf of whispered prayers. Every encounter presents a new opportunity to change your approach to life.

Beginning November 6th, episodes of Saved By Grace will be airing weekly on PureFlix.com.

MY REVIEW: If you were a fan of the "Touched By an Angel" series, "Saved By Grace" will be a welcome viewing option for you. Grace (Jennifer Taylor) and Jeremiah (Cameron Arnett) are angels who receive assignments to help humans who are going through a crisis and need a heavenly helping hand. Each episode has a theme that can be relatable to any of us despite varying circumstances and I do like the transitional phasing from what may seem unsolvable to the hope given after following God's plan rather than emotional responses. As a Pure Flix Ambassador, I was privileged to preview all episodes of Season One and believe this will be a well-received series. It is drama with serious topics but there are also lighthearted moments to make the viewer smile. The reports I am hearing have been very positive, so be sure to check it out.

GIVEAWAY: Enter to Win a 3-month subscription to PureFlix! This is limited to US winners only, and only to those who have NOT won a subscription in the last 6 months. Deadline to enter is 11/17/22. #SavedByGraceMIN

DISCLOSURE: Many thanks to Pure Flix for providing a sample of the product for this review. Opinions are 100% my own.

INTERVIEW: Jean Thomason interviews "Saved By Grace" stars Jennifer Taylor and Cameron Arnett.

"All the situations highlight current problems, but at the core, they are heart issues we've been dealing with since the fall, and I hope viewers realize they aren't alone in those struggles.” - Jennifer Taylor (Grace)

“Angels are still relevant today – they walk amongst us and are here to serve us and to bring about God’s intent in our daily lives.” - Cameron Arnett (Jeremiah)

Saved By Grace DVD

Saved By Grace, starring Joey Lawrence as Rick, is the story of a former police officer who is still coping with the aftermath of the day his life was irrevocably changed. Released due to medical issues, Sam Jenkins (Michael Joiner) has Rick's wife held hostage to make Rick suffer for the part he played in Sam's imprisonment. During the ensuing struggle, his wife is killed, and Rick sustains an injury that disables him. Leaving his young son with the child's grandmother, Rick sinks deeper into despondency.

The story begins 5 years later when Rick is contemplating a dramatic course of action to ease his pain. But when a chance encounter with a persistent woman named Grace (Catalina Rodriguez) interrupts his plans, he is slowly drawn to open up and share his own feelings as she shares her life story with him. As the day progresses, Rick begins to re-evaluate his life and realize that he is the one who abandoned his family and faith.

Wonderful storytelling and great acting are the reason I always enjoy any film Johnny Remo makes, and this one is no exception. Of course I am more familiar with Joey Lawrence as a child star, but the promise shown then is certainly displayed in his portrayal of Rick. Both he and Catalina give believable performances as people who have faced tragedy, albeit they are at different places with how they handled it. The way they relate to one another and provide support the other needs is gradually, but naturally played out without seeming forced.

Muse Watson and Michael Joiner have smaller roles in the film, but both have powerful performances that definitely stand out. Both have made choices and gone through bad experiences, but demonstrate that attitude determines what you do with your past. Overall, the movie is a story of hope despite despair and that healing is possible when you turn to God. I really enjoyed this one.

Most recently the Spotlight Movie at the Oxford (MS) Film Festival, Skipstone Pictures latest release, Saved By Grace, also stars Muse Watson, Candice Barley and Christopher Michael. Johnny Remo directed, produced, and co-wrote the screenplay. Lance Bachelder and KennethLemm also co-wrote this story which shares that God has a purpose and plan for all things that happened.

Hardflip

Hardflip follows the story of Caleb (Randy Wayne; To Save A Life, ABC Family’s The Lying Game) a young skater whose ill mother (Rosanna Arquette; Pulp Fiction, The Whole Nine Yards) and absent father (John Schneider; Dukes of Hazard, October Baby, I Am Gabriel) leave him reaching for the only hope he has—becoming a sponsored skater. After finding a stack of old love letters, he sets out to find the father he never knew and inadvertently begins a journey he never could have expected. This story explores what happens when we let go of our anger and pain and forgive those who have hurt us most.

Johnny Remo (A Letter To Dad, Cutback) has already written, produced, and directed 2 films that I and the teens in my life have loved, and Hardflip is another huge hit with my family. I always love the music in SkipStone Pictures films, and there's another great lineup in this film, including Brian "Head" Welch :

Hardflip also features some awesome skaters like Christian Hosoi, Brian Sumner, and others.

The skating action is fantastic (and my grandkids loved all of the tricks), but the story also captured their attention. I do recommend the film for 12 and up due to some scenes of drinking, drugs, and attempted suicide, but I found them to be good conversation openers about choices people make. They also gave the film a realistic look into problems that are more prevalent than we sometimes realize. Hope, forgiveness, and faith are offered and show that there is a way out of despair, loneliness, tragedy, and rejection. I really liked the film a lot and the teenagers loved it!
