The Christian Capitalist

The Christian Capitalist explores various scriptural references that support twin pillars of Christian belief:
1) working hard to make a productive benefit from talents and materials that God has provided all people; and
2) giving generously to share those benefits with our neighbors in the name of Jesus Christ. Through a discussion of Holy Scripture, it analyzes various passages that relate to these concepts of productivity and generosity, along with two thousand years of history discussing the good works of Christians as examples.

In The Christian Capitalist, you are invited to explore the relationship between faith and economics in depth and examine the gospel of HARD WORK and GENEROUS GIVING. Using a blend of Scripture and History, author Rich Sanders demonstrates traditional methods from Biblical times are applicable to modern capitalism.
Watch: Jean Thomason interviews THE CHRISTIAN CAPITALIST author Rich Sanders.

Ultimately, this book develops a philosophy that is uniquely Christian and capitalist: the Gospel of Hard Work and Generous Giving!

MY REVIEW: The Christian Capitalist is an excellent book that, in my opinion, is a practical guide for earning and giving. Not a "Prosperity Gospel" about increasing your wealth for yourself, but about the importance of Hard Work and Generous Giving. The focus is on good stewardship and planning to not meet just your own needs but be able to give to other ministries and organizations.

The book is divided into 4 Parts:
1. Working and Giving as Children of God
2. Jesus Teaches a New Way to Think About Working and Giving
3. Early Christian Life of Working and Giving
4. The Christian Capitalist

The example of Servant-Leadership is very well demonstrated, and the book can be very useful to those who use the principles as a guideline.
"Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God." - Hebrews 13:16

Something To Stand For

Mike Rowe's SOMETHING TO STAND FOR is coming to theaters this week! Join America’s favorite storyteller on an epic journey to the heart of Washington DC. Drawing from his blockbuster podcast “The Way I Heard It,” this cinematic tour de force will take viewers to the frontlines of the American Revolution, World War II, the Civil Rights movement, and more.

America is full of tales about patriots who risked everything to build our country. Join Mike Rowe as he journeys to the heart of these stories in his latest film, SOMETHING TO STAND FOR. In theaters nationwide June 27—July 4. Click here for tickets!

MY REVIEW: If you love History, and even if you don't, you will love this fascinating look at some of our American patriots. Mike Rowe has his own place in history as one of America's beloved storytellers, and he uses his talent to skillfully create tales of people who made their mark in the history of the United States of America. Even the stories I knew were told in a fresh style, and with Rowe's heartwarming touches of humor. Those I didn't know gave me an appreciation for people who made an impact on the lives of many...and the desire to know more. I truly hope this is only Part 1 of a series on American Patriots.

MY REVIEW: Jesus: a Deaf Missions film is a marvelous film for anyone to see. I am not deaf and I only know fewer than 10 words in ASL, plus the alphabet. But, that did not prevent me from being engrossed in the story. If anything, I stayed more engaged with the film since I had to rely on viewing and closed captions. I am a person who loves closed captioning, so it wasn't a distraction for me. But the actors were so expressive that the Biblical stories did spring to life without spoken words.

For the hearing, there are background sounds like birds chirping and water running. They are actually more noticeable since there are no words. I think it was easy to follow along with, but I am familiar with the Bible. I truly can not guess the ease (or difficulty) for anyone who has not read the Bible, but I recommend you watch the film. There are many who are willing to answer any questions you have.

Warning: Some scenes are very graphic, especially during the scenes before and including the crucifixion. It may be too much for children or anyone traumatized by the sight of blood or violence. However, for all others, I definitely recommend this remarkable film.
