For the past few days, it has seemed that Facebook has been the main topic of conversation. I admit, I was among the many, very many, who complained about the changes that appeared on my page last Wednesday. I have tried it for several days, and I must admit........
I STILL HATE IT!!!!!!! There are rumors that there will be even more changes to come. I ask myself, "How much worse can they make it?" I am confident that I will soon be ranting again!! :)
Actually, what I found even more puzzling than the current chaos I am trying to decipher, were the people who admonished me and others with 'Facebook is free! How dare you complain about something that is free? You should just leave. There are more important things in life than Social Media'. You know, I found that attitude disturbing. A social media site? Sure! But I wonder if that mindset is the same for all things that are free? Plus, why were they so up-in-arms over people who were merely exercising free speech? No one was threatening, using obscene language, inciting a riot, etc.! I know that I was having fun with the silly cartoons and comments.
{Facebook is fun, and I like playing (well, not the games, but that's just me.), but I use it to stay in contact with family, & friends (both old & new), promoting faith-based media, and as part of my desire to pray for the needs of others. I spend a lot of time at home, and I feel that God has opened this option to me to use my time to SHARE His Word and pray for those I would never meet in ordinary circumstances.}
After Wednesday's firestorm of complaints, criticisms, and cross-fire...a new development!! Well, the resurgence of an old rumor: FACEBOOK WILL BEGIN CHARGING!!!! There was the old familiar
I confess that my favorite was posted by my friend Jonathan:

A rumor on the internet caught our attention. We have no plans to charge for Facebook. It's free and always will be.
Hmm...is THAT a fact that won't change?
In
conclusion, I do get bored and annoyed and frustrated with Facebook,
but will I delete my account? My relationship can best be described by

Wish I had seen this one earlier that was posted by my friend Robin:
It is official.. .Facebook will begin stealing your undergarments at midnight tonight if you don't copy and paste this message in the next 37 seconds, forward it to everyone in your mailing list, print a hard copy for your grandmother and call your third grade teacher. This is real. I got the message first hand from Elvis who was having lunch with Sasquatch while riding the Loch Ness monster. It was even on the inside back cover of every tabloid in the grocery store checkout line.........
Well did I read it right....they are going to start charging....I am not surprised since...I have had 2 instances where I tried sending a message to someone who was not on my friend list and they wanted to charge me a $1.00 to send the message. There was also one of my friends who when trying to post something saw the promote this posting and Facebook wanted to charge $7.00 to do this.....so them charging for Facebook....I would not be surprised.....thank you for sharing your thoughts, I too happen to love FB for staying in touch with family and friends, but also God has brought many to me that are in need of prayer and encouragement...I would be sad if not surprised to see them start charging.......the only thing that is free is the gift of Salvation.
