A Sudden Glory by Sharon Jaynes

Do you have a longing to experience God's presence every day? You, like many other women, may be so caught up in the all of the tasks, routines, and interruptions that can consume you that spending time alone with God falls by the wayside. Even if you are doing work for God, you can easily miss a time of intimacy with God. Does the busyness of the day drain you and leave you with you a “glory ache”—a longing to experience God’s presence day by day?  This may be the very book you need to help you fit everything together. In A Sudden Glory, both Scripture and story are used to help blend the line between your every day life and your spiritual life. Sharon Jaynes has written a book to show that you don't need to add one more thing to your day, but just need to experience God more as you as you go about your usual activities.

To be honest, I really liked the book, but I didn't love it. Perhaps it is because I am in the middle of being pulled in so many directions that I can't focus right now on one more thing, but I found myself getting distracted. I did, however, realize that once again I was being given a example of  “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). That verse has shown up a lot in recent weeks! Not a sense of dropping things to concentrate, but being more aware of God's presence in my life. The author reminded me that God is involved in my life and I can get too busy to see Him sometimes; I need to look for God in the middle of my circumstances. The Bible Study included in the back is also very useful for helping to experience that intimacy with God that let slip when I take focus off of Him.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.
