Enter Into Easter With Pure Flix

Easter is quickly approaching and is the perfect time to gather with family and friends to remember why it's such an important time of the year.

Christian Easter movies are an outstanding method to remind us and open conversations about the sacrifice Jesus made for us and why we rejoice! PUREFLIX offers a selection of Easter films that is suitable for various ages and interests.

Films about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, including
"The Passion of the Christ," give a visual that stays with you and there are others similar or there are movies that tel the story from the point of view of others. Some people prefer the documentaries Pure Flix offers or the visual Bibles that use Scripture for the narrative.

Are you or the kids fans of Brickfilm? (A brickfilm is a film made using Lego bricks, or other similar plastic construction toys.) PureFlix has them! And, they have not forgotten childhood favorites like VeggieTales and Superbook or the animated feature, "The Lamb of Judah." Teach them early that Easter is more than chocolate bunnies and painted eggs, but with age-appropriate films. Check out what films and series are on Pure Flix: PureFlix.com

I have seen several of the Easter offerings you can find on Pure Flix, but my favorite of all is "The Chosen." This is a multi-season production, directed by Dallas Jenkins, currently in production. (*Pure Flix is only offering Season 1 at this time.) Based on the true stories of the Bible, this series revolves around Jesus Christ and His followers. Remember that many of the stories told are based on what COULD HAVE HAPPENED. The Chosen brings the Bible to life in a way meant to intrigue the viewer and, hopefully, cause people to spend more time reading Scripture.

To be fair, not everyone agrees with each story, but even the parts that are fictionalized open my eyes to seeing things from a new angle. When a person says or does something not in Scripture, it often leads to me exploring my own attitudes and actions. Normally a stickler for Biblical accuracy, nothing I have viewed has offended me in any way; I merely think, "not likely," and move on. But a nugget of truth (sometimes boulder-sized nuggets) is often uncovered as I combine re-reading Scripture and speculating on what I have seen. My favorite films are always those that make me think.

Tyson's Run

Homeschooled due to his autism, fifteen-year-old Tyson (Major Dodson) attends public school for the first time... because he wants to learn algebra and his mother (Amy Smart) doesn't know it. As he helps his father (Rory Cochrane), the high school football coach, clean up after the players, champion marathon runner Aklilu (Barkhad Abdi) comes to the field to practice. Tyson's life is changed forever when he runs with and befriends Aklilu.

Tyson is determined to run his first marathon in hopes of winning his father's approval. With the help of his new friends, Aklilu and Shannon (Layla Felder) and his parents, Tyson learns that with faith in yourself and the willingness to meet every challenge, anything is possible.

Tyson’s Run is a movie that is relatable to all of us. Tyson’s longing to be accepted by his father leads him to push himself further than anyone might have thought possible. It's a heart-warming story of overcoming odds, changing perceptions, and
of love ultimately winning.

Tyson's Run, directed by Kim Bass, opens in theaters on March 11th. I was privileged with a sneak peek, and I recommend that you get your tickets now! This is a very inspirational film that makes you cheer on Tyson to win! Some characters and moments can provoke anger and sympathy, but the laughs along the way as well as changing dynamics give the viewer hope of defying the odds and feeling triumphant.

The Hollerman family are portrayed as Christian, but their faith is not the main focus in this film. It is a very family-friendly film that most of the family will enjoy. (The exceptions are under the age of eight.) We need a good dose of joy and hope, and Tyson's Run delivers it! It is simply an enjoyable story.

Life Lessons - March 8, 2017

MEMORY (3/8/2017) ~ Audrey is trying to walk around while holding 2 pacifiers, her sippy cup, a bracelet, a Hot Wheels car, and her teddy bear. Every now and then, she drops part of her load...and cries as she tries to pick it all up.

When she decides to let me help, there are smiles and giggles. Sometimes there is even a little dancing!

The lesson to be learned is--- don't try to carry more than you can handle...and a friend can make your burdens lighter. This works with physical burdens as well as the emotional burdens we bear.

Most of all, remember that God is available 24 hours per day, every day. He answers when we turn to the Lord. Read more biblereasons.com/burdens

Rejoice when you can help others just as I loved every moment of assisting my little princessđź‘‘ with her toddler problems.
