The Mysterious Islands

The Mysterious Islands is without a doubt one of the most beautifully photographed and informative documentaries I have ever seen. I admit it was with a bit of trepidation that I sat down to watch (not always a doc fan), but I was quickly captivated by the beautiful scenery and the fascinating animals. In no time I was just as quickly engrossed by the insightful dialogue as well-respected researchers gave their reasons for choosing the Biblical account of creation over the theory of evolution.

Filmed in the Galapagos Islands, the "birthplace" of Darwinism, the stunning scenery and the varieties of animals is simply amazing. This is one dvd that I believe will be a hit with every member of the family. Even those too young to listen to the dialogue for long will love watching the activities of the birds, mammals, and reptiles. I think this is a Must-Have for your personal library, whether you are home-schooling or simply want for your child to have a understanding of creationism. There are also several bonus features that only add to the enjoyment of this film, and I must admit the 90 minutes of the main feature kept my rapt attention.

No Girls Allowed :: 978-1-4143-3589-6 :: Tyndale House Publishers

No Girls Allowed Devotions for Boys is the companion devotion to the popular For Girls Only! Devotions (2009). The devotion books follow the same format: a story related to a scripture theme, a game/activity, a list of things to do, and quotes from people and the Bible that reinforce the theme. Each of the 60 devotions is 4 pages long (2 complete spreads) and includes original single-color art that will attract and engage boys ages 8-12. The illustrations are more like cartoons—each has a caption that relates to the theme. Some of the themes addressed include bullying, being a good winner, generosity, church participation, worship, and creation. The devotions use a wide range of examples. The author uses original stories, but he also uses things familiar to boys (G.I. Joe, Transformers, sports figures, superheroes, comics, video games, etc.) to illustrate his point.

This book is a MUST-HAVE for the 8-12 year old boys in your life. The cool references and fun games make it at absolute delight, but the spiritual impact to be gained is amazing. These are completely relevant topics and are taught in a manner both insightful and fun. I bought a copy a couple of days ago and thoroughly enjoyed reading myself. When Cody saw it, he was equally as enthused. and I look forward this being a part of nightly family devotions with him.

I highly recommend this book!!

Reaching A Goal

Reaching goals has become a new project of mine...at least, it has on Facebook. I see a fanpage or friend list and immediately my thoughts turn to kicking it up to the next level. I used to be competitive about things such as taking tests; now it appears I am competitive about things I am interested in increasing their fans. I can get as excited over watching fan numbers rise as I can watching touchdowns in a football game. I don't even have to be that enthused over either team playing! However, if it is a fanpage that interests me, this is as great as watching Alabama football!! (ROLL TIDE!!)

Another passion has become the need for great faith-based movies! I plan on writing more on that later, but today is basically an ad for my favorite: The paragraph above was just to try to explain my obsession. :)

I need everyone to help me reach TODAY'S goal for BEYOND THE FARTHEST STAR!!
They need about 50 more Facebook fans to reach 4000!! Let's do it today!!! Okay? Thanks!! I knew I could count on YOU to help!! :)
